Beat the rotation
Get your first slip in within twenty minutes of the start time. On a busy Friday, the rotation can close to new singers before 10 p.m. in the most popular rooms.
Turn in one song at a time unless the host says otherwise, and keep a backup ready in case the track is not in that host's catalog.
Pick songs for a loud, full room
- Friday crowds are big and distracted. Songs with an instantly recognizable hook land better than deep cuts.
- Keep it under four minutes when you can — long songs on a packed rotation cost everyone else a turn.
- Duets and group choruses are Friday gold. Bring a friend up.
